I spoke about it a few times, and got told by ya, skiller, that you were working on it but will the option of making a donation will eventually be implanted?
Seriously, I think this site would deserve it.
Better "service" than any so called "professionnal" site (gameshark for instance) and they get paid...
The only problem is most likely to know if it would cost more to set it up than you think you would make out of it.
P.S. If anyone think this is boots licking, I'm much more the "boot in your face" kind of girl. I just know that for half what we have here they could ask for a monthly fee or the likes.
Forgot to mention that it was a while ago that we spoke about it, skiller, like months when you pulled me out of the official gameshark site in the original post here Thus the "bleh" edition" . I most likely remember you since this is your site, but not sure u remember my Punkass

Look, a stalker.
Remember what I said about the boot in the face?
**puts on iron cap boots on**
lol
I'm not the only brat here, am I?
Anyway, any guy would dream of me stalking them **Gets the big head and falls on my back**
errr...yeah....
pfftt...

If you guys REALLY want people to click on the ads, put up more ads that we WANT to click on. A FANTASTIC example that I already saw around here is an ad from
www.divavillage.com
The only bad thing about that ad is that I've only seen it once on this site, but I definitely clicked through (to save some pictures from there).
Another great example that I found (at gamefaqs) is
www.bustedtees.com
Here's a couple of png's to show what I mean.

It's Google's ad service, right? Yeah, they go by words and phrases in the page, and try to serve up relevant ads. It's far from perfect, and not something the webmaster has much control over. I think they can list themselves in a particular category, so preference won't go to ads for crocheting potholders, if it can be helped. That's about the extent of control, though.
Edit: Wait a minute. You want more ads that help you fill out your collection sub-soft-core porn. Sorry, can't help there. There are a couple of user profiles you might click on from time to time, if you're into what they're selling, but I don't think we'll be working a deal with Frederick's of Hollywood to specifically serve their ads with each page view.

I liked it when this topic gave a BBW Dating site thing, lol. No seriously, I have to agree with that "Far from perfect" thing due to that ad. =/
I'll click them, but like with other adsense ad blocks, only ads that I really wanna click. Granted, I've already clicked two when browsing these forums, because they were MMORPG Ads, and I wanted to check them out =/

Hardly anything really, about 2-7 cents or less. Note: The owner of the adsense cannot click on his own ads, otherwise... the google death scythe comes out to play. (Yup, I signed up for adsense/words myself.)

Not entirely, but preferable. You just need to let it load enough that the URL changes from that mile-long query-stringed address to a different one, and for some page content to start to load. This'll allow the server-side scripts to run, and give credit to the referring site.
For example:
When this:
http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/iclk?sa=l&ai=B-smCYLl1SKLcDKTSVJue4VHs2oFDqLCtqwbAjbcB0IYDEAEYASC Ak90HOABQ1OG4-v3_____AWD9qI2B6AOgAeCKqvkDsgEbd3d3LmNvZGVtYXN0ZXJ zLXByb2plY3QubmV0ugEJNzI4eDkwX2FzyAEC2gFHaHR0cDovL 3d3dy5jb2RlbWFzdGVycy1wcm9qZWN0Lm5ldC92Yi9uZXdyZXB seS5waHA_ZG89bmV3cmVwbHkmcD0xMDI3NjGoAwHIAwXoAynoA 78B6AP9AugDH_UDAAMAAIgEAZAEAZgEAA&num=1&adurl=http://www.pokemoncursor.com&client=ca-pub-2553045120721574&nm=2
...changes to this:
http://www.pokemoncursor.com/
...and some page content starts to load...
...then the header redirect and cookie/session id logging is complete.
Having said this, however, I would like to stress that it is preferable to have the page load completely, and to actually peruse the site. Advertisers pay big $$$ to have people come to their sites in the hopes of them signing up or purchasing something.
On a side note: I dabble in a little internet marketing here-and-there...and just recently spent over $100 in 5 days, for ads that generated a fair amount of traffic (~400-500 clicks) on just one particular campaign. After this 5-day sprawl, I checked my earnings for the said campaign, and noticed that this traffic resulted in zero sales: statistically speaking, I should have achieved at least one sale. As a result, I revoked this campaign, counted my losses, learned from this, and moved on.
The moral of this anecdote: PPC ads, although sometimes annoying, are an important marketing tool, and should not be taken for granted. If the ad arouses interest in you...or behooves you to click on them in any way, then please, by all means, click away...and take a little time to look the site over: you might learn something new.

That AVSVideoConverter or whatever link never changes. The big long link just stays the same with the GClickID= or whatever even after the whole page has loaded. Would that be a bad thing?

hey... blast from the past here... but i just wanted to say that there is a little trick i learned with help in this respect.
only problem is that it requires a shoutbox or some other part of the forum that constantly reloads.
You edit the code for the shoutbox to put the ads at the VERY bottom.. it might make the box load maybe 1 second or less slower but you'll generate craploads of page hits just by leaving the site open. This might not earn as much money as clicks but depending on how many leave the site open you could more than make up for people not clicking just from those page loads.
exampe... a site i made has 14k users... i was getting over 400,000 google ad page loads per day which earned me quite a nice sum and completely covered the cost of me renting my server amongst other things.
Eventually i just had google start putting it on my paypal account and got myself a paypal CC to spend the money.
The best part about it is that the ads were basically hidden except for the basic footer ads and ads outside the forums.

Google Ads pay per ad click, not ad load =/ I learned that from Adsense. No Wait, I just read over on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adsense#How_AdSense_works) elsewise.
Also, most shoutboxes nowadays don't reload the entire page, and only a small "iFrame" or something like it. (Especially AJAX Shoutboxes)
Pyriel
07-22-2008, 03:49 PM
Yeah, but IFrames are special, and reloading them will suffice. You can IFrame in a complete web page if you wanted. I've seen some dillholes IFrame cnn.com into their pages.
I don't know anything about shoutboxes really, but if they refresh frequently, and reload a document, it'll count as a page load.

and yes, a refreshing iframe shoutbox is what i was referring to.
the only problem with this would probably be people spamming code requests in the shoutbox... but if you don't care about that, then this is the way to go.
and yes, i know most newer vB shoutboxes use ajax now but i'm sure there are still some compatible iframe shoutboxes out there... if not, one could be easily written to accommodate.

Inferno Shout is easily the most feature-tastic, but it's not supported by the vBull mods community. Most vBull admins like it that they can get vBull mod support.
