View Full Version : Server problems?
Okay, so sorry.... not sure 'what' it is nor 'why' but anyway....
This place does 'crash' me alot.
#1 Before it is asked, no I have no viruss at all, no spy ware no nothing bad, I am always sure of this, just seems something fishy with the server or my area IP.
I say this because I do and have tested before I made this topic indeed to be sure and not to blow wind as I know no one needs....
Anyway as said, I tried on my own personal PC, a brand new on in my home also, the one at the local area libary, and even went to school and tried, asked a few friends, the principal at one school whome allowed me and even at the college as well---they all do the same, which is why I believe is either server issue or IP issue in my area.
On all things it seems like it is the early 90's here now.... when the pages 'here' on this site is loading, if anything else is going on at all, it tends to crash the whole site and loading process.
Again so sorry to report this, but something is fishy somewhere, and I have tested it alot as you can see.... and each time loading as happend alot with PCs in the early 90's when the net was getting first in everyone's home this was a classic problem, but seems to here on this site anyway seems to be all happening again.
Again happens no where but 'here' and again on more then a few tested PCs all with this area IP number so I am thinking it is an IP thing...but still is getting to be a bother, after a few times, just a simple restart, but after the 800th time, it is getting nerve wrecking really now....

It crashes your browser, your PC, or both? What OS are you using? Which page is loading when it crashes?
Oh, It crashes 'well freezes' my browser. and ONLY the board here, not the site other wise that is all okay, but on the board here, at times it is a nightmare to load, reply or well do anything that has it load anything here.
Does not shut my PC down, only the browser always, one of those things where it seems all is good and loading but it just stops, after awhile I press the 'classic' control + alternate + delete to see what is 'errored' and indeed the place is errored. "CodeMaster's Project is not responding, end this application?"
Again rather odd, as it happens 'only' on the board, when loading anything on the board it could be, a reply to message, the whole board to start with, returning to the index of the board, anything.
As far as Operationg systems and browsers, I am always using IE, err sorry FoxFire people, but in my 'messing' I found enough bugs and enough site not loading right with FoxFire to make me never want to use that again, sorry some may think I am crazy but I will stick with old Billy Gates. (Plus as is I do have a very protected viruss and spam/spy ware prevention so otherwise.)
So yes is always with IE, and as for OP windows systems, a few as well, ME, XP and a 98 Plus....all three still get this freezing mess alot here, as said I did test on a few PCs, and even outside of my home at a local school and even the libary.
Again it seems alot like my IP and this server's IP or soemthing is not getting along too well, or something is fishy with this board Php stuff kind of? Maybe that error is still there for some of us?
(And yes I get to reply, Thank Goodness, it just takes reloading the site and board a few times after it freezes on me it seems, not for sure, ti does get on my nerves these days, but on an adverage, I'd say when I come here, it freezes about once and a half each time. Again not all technical % there, just adveraging as best I can)

I think I know what your problem is..this happens to me a lot and it's really not the board.
However your problem stands mainly through advertisements, popups if the site has any because it will freeze your browser, you'll get the error messages and you have to do ctrl-alt-del to remeove the unresponding url's you have running. Sometimes microsoft will take you to thier site where you can go over thier options on why it crashed and more often the not, it has to do with if an advertisement can't get through as it's loading this page..
I would highly suggest you get ad-aware program and run it every day to help to get rid of any spyware problems you may have and I'm pretty sure you have them by the sounds of this. Spybot is also good to have too plus a popup-blocker. Yahoo has an antispyware on thier popup blocker so you may want to check into it.

This site by itself doesn't have any advertisements. It's conceivable that an IE plug-in is serving you ads, and that's the culprit, but it would require a mind-boggling consistency of ignorance for x out of x computers to have similar spyware plug-ins all causing the same trouble.
PHP is server-side scripting. What's exposed to you is the resulting HTML, which may include client-side scripts like javascript, but this board is all canned code. It could have a bug, but since you're the only person reporting a problem, it would have to be a very specific bug.
It's virtually impossible for the protocol to cause problems (if that's what you mean by IP). If you had a corrupted protocol set up, you would have trouble everywhere. If the server had one, none of us would be able to access the page.
I will agree with Lucretia on one point though, it's nearly a certainty that the trouble is something on your end. Clear your cache, clear your cookies, and run a better spyware analyzer than what Microsoft gives you.

make sure what ever browser you are using is up to date. Do all your windoes updates ( I Asume that is what you are using). This site WILL NOT WORK on my Windows 98 crash box (For those of you who don't know, I crash box is a computer that is used solely for testing and training), but i think that is because I cannot load I.E. 6.1. I Do recomend the newest version of Firefox for this site as the old ones cause major crashes on sites the were created in I.E. codeing. Also (ANd i know this because I worked for an ISP) some isps have troble loading sites that are forigne languages or dual translations. I have no idea why but they do. I know quest users had a hell of a time with German and Japanese sites.

make sure you allow cookies from CMP and search for viruses and spyware frequently.
Also it could be that the server is down momentarily, if its a constant thing however, its probably your web connections or browser(s)
could also be a board setting conflicting with your browser settings. :)
Well, sadly, this whole reason 'why' I do not come here much anymore, can when I have well, 'alot more time' to kill, when I can sit and await for each crash from this server, but otherwise we all have to work and well do other things in life you know.
As far as fixxing or even trying to figure out what the problem is for one lone person, again I would and do expect not, after all, why should I Matter to any of you really. I am not that full of myself, so anyway.
Otherwise, I know what is going on, you have been 'hacked' I explained this elsewhere below, but it does indeed go to this topic as well.
The whole thing, a small bit of a rivalry going on is it seems, that 'net hackers' hate and do dislike 'video game hackers' again hey I am just the messager and NO I am not a part nor a member of such places, but it is indeed easy to find those 'err bad word for people here' (so I do not upset them and heck they target my home PC....but as is well known, or should be well known, net hackers always attack video game hacker sites. Heck THIS site is hacked already, I againr egret to say ahve seen 'some' evil perople bragging out there about it. (With that heck no wonder this board is shot all to heck....)
Sorry, just the way life is.... I know I am an admin of a game device code hacking site as well, and YES we are attacked all the time, sometimes we do not find it for years, but indeed and clearly this site sadly, the boards anyway is and has been hit a few times, and only towards a few, it does have it's 'effects'.
Again not bragging, but just to make it clear there is nothing wrong with my PC, nor any of the others I have used and try to use to come here. I myself am very avid at protection from virusses and mess of that type. So just saying, and again, I do not expect anything to be done for one lone person again, but just again delivering a sad message I'd ratehr not, it is clear you have been hacked a few times. But hey same with the code site I am admin of, same with Pelican, and same with Datel and all the others, really SAME with Pelican and Datel...but anyway

hmmmm, been a little while now, but I do recall the place being 'non-found' for more then just three days, heck this places goes non-found on and off alot of times.
Has to be the badndwidth mess.... and not complaining, just as is, gosh with so many people showing up here, we should all sadly get used to the place going down sometimes for all of us 'alot'....just seems the ways of life.

well, i have only had it go down twice. Once when the site was actually down and the other after I had my ISP come out to replace the line running from my house. Actually, all sites starting with a certine IP address crashed. Once I finish with all my stuff I have to do this week I am going to start my PC walk-throughs again. I am in the process of churning out game reviews right now so it will be after that. It sounds to me to be a Stack issue not the bandwith, or a host file issue. If its not either of those then it might be a problem with how the browser is reading the address. When i worked for microsoft, some people after installing SP2, their internet explorer and firefox browsers would cause page cannot be displayed because when SP2 made the registry backup then restored it, it didnt put back all the files used for networking and browsing. The same thing would happen with people on Proxys and Wireless networking.

i have yet to have this site time out. One of the worst sites for timing out on me is gameshark.com. Most likely because their site is JAVA intense big time.

Everytime I come to this forum, it takes at least 2 reloads before I can view the page without getting an error. Throughout my stay here, I will have to reload the page again and again whenever the page I am trying to view ends up dead on me.
Am I the only one with this problem?

It seems that someone has done some extensive pruning. I lost over 70 posts.
I just don't get why you would prune a forum anyway. I mean it's quite usefull for archival purposes to have old threads in the database so we don't have to answer the same questions over and over and over again.
Get ready for requests and discussions on older games to start popping up.

Not a problem. I've been sick today and have been just clicking through all my favorite sites all day and noticed that the NTSC forum has been steadily losing posts for most of the day.
See? Now ya got your senior member title back! lol
